In AutoCAD you have several possibilities to insert the points, for example: In the Command line type '3DP' (3DPOLY). From the ACII text file copy all X,Y,Z points in the desired order and paste these into the command line. Create a script file (.scr) of the point file and drag and drop it into the AutoCAD model view window. AutoCad:: How To Import Excel Xyz Data May 29, 2007. AutoCAD LT :: Import Excel Table Via Data Link Function
Apr 26, 2011we recently were trying to import an excel table via data link function. Initially this works fine and the table appears in the drawing however when we want to break the link by deleting it in the data link table autocad tells me that the link is in use. We routinely do this in autocad mechanical 2010. The reason we do this is to be able to bring in the table and preserve formatting. How can we easily delete the data link in 2010 LT?
InDesign :: How To Import Data From Excel File
Feb 6, 2014I have a very large excel file with a list of companies in this format:

Few things:
- I don't want to import all these into a table. I want all the info in a 3 text columns format that will run accros 150 pages (more or less)
- I'm using InDesign CS6

AutoCAD Map 3D :: Import Point Data With Object Data?
Jan 20, 2011how to import point data that has Map Object Data also attached to it? 'import it by attaching to a data source'.
Example: I have a bunch of manholes. Each MH has X,Y,Z, but also Type, Invert Elevs., Pipe Sizes, Pipe Materials, Pipe Directions, Structure Type/Material, etc. etc. etc. I may have point data representing MH's, airport runway ends, trees, anything you can imagine, with all kinds of data imaginable.
I want to import this data directly into Autocad/Civil 3D as either Autocad points, lines, or closed polylines (I also have utility lines, parking lots, etc.- all with data associated with it), all with the data attached as object data. I know that anything more complex than points might be hard to explain here, so I am hoping at least for a solution on how to import points - I have 99,999 MH's and obviously I don't want to have to type all that data in one by one.
I basically suck at using sql server. I can get around using the Map workspace and the different tabs. I have never used FDO, and I am not even sure what it is.
I fooled it today by creating 99,999 Autocad points at the correct XYZ, attaching the correct object data to them, then exporting as a shp file. I went into the shp_name.dbf file and edited it to add the data I wanted by cutting & pasting from Excel. then I re-imported the shp file. but, this is a workaround at best.
Surely Map can import objects and their associated data fields, all populated with valid data! all I need is to know how to do it. I mean, if this is not something I can do directly using Map commands should I take the money I earned by surveying 99,999 MH's with my GIS data collector that allows me to assign 101data fields to each object I survey, and buy something better?

Nov 1, 2012When trying to insert a table linked to an Excel 2010 file, it works up until row 28, however, as soon as I add a 29th row to the table it no longer inserts the table. When I try and insert it, I press ok and nothing happens. I tried inserting it as a smaller table and changing the data link to a bigger range after it was inserted, it just didn't update to a larger range.
Is there a way of getting this to work without having to insert it as two different tables?

Jun 19, 2012I have some soil boring data captured, in the field, to an Excel spreadsheet; basically, a bore site ID and coordinates.
I'd like to be able to have the coordinate attributes of blocks inserted into my bore site plans populate automatically, perhaps based off of the value of a bore site ID attribute which is manually entered for each bore site.
Alternatively, if there were a way to insert the bore site blocks based off the actual Excel records, populating all attributes and locating the block by the actual X,Y,Z coordinate, that might be even better.

AutoCAD Architecture :: Tables With Linked Excel Data
Sep 25, 2012I have set up some autocad tables that are linked to excel data( using relative path) in an Autocad Architecture project template. In the xref dialog box, the data links are show as relative path e.g. ..Standards excel file
After creating a new project from this template and right-clicking in one of the cells which have linked data and selecting 'data links' and 'open data links file' it opens the template excel file, not the excel file within the project folder.
If I use the xref command, select and right click one of the excel data links and select 'open' it does open the correct excel file located in the current project folder.
The xref dialog box does show all the data links as relative path e.g. ..Standardsexcel file.

But it didn't really work. I can export the XY but not the Z in the report manager.
So my questions are.... How can I create a new report to incorporate the Z? Or is there another way to do it?
I should add I also tried the 'Incremental Stationing Reporting' from the Profiles Report... However it doesn't recognize the profiles I've created? I get the 'No FG profiles in.....' even though there are?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Getting Data Correctly From Excel Sheet
Oct 5, 2012I´m having a couple of problems with getting data correctly from an Excel Sheet. I´m using the Excel Sheet to get Data for the Stock Number based on geometry.
First time the Excel File get´s opened it always cannot find the first sheet. I´m using a german Version and Sheet1 is Tabelle1 in german.
It always searches for sheet1 the first time the script runs on a new derived assembly. The second time (on second part) it correctly finds Tabelle1 and reads the correct value. Here is the code I´m using:
[code]
myXLS = 'K:IdentNr.xls'
GoExcel.Open(myXLS)
i = GoExcel.FindRow(myXLS, 'Tabelle1', 'Stärke', '=', Stärke, 'Material', '=', iProperties.Material)
IdentNr = GoExcel.CurrentRowValue('IdentNr')
iProperties.Value('Custom', 'IdentNr') = IdentNr
[code]
And there is another issue which I have solved already but still gives me a bit of a headache. When the userdefined property IdentNr gets written into the part it always defaults to a numerical value, which means that I always get a comma at the end of the Stock Number.
Only when I define IdentNr like this:
Dim IdentNr As String
the format is correctly set to Text.I expected that when you read a value from an Excel Cell that the Format of the Cell gives the format of the user defined property. Is that not correct?

AutoCAD 2013 :: Extract Data From Excel To Field
Feb 2, 2013I enter data into an Excel job setup worksheet. I then want to be able to extract data from given cells in the Excel worksheet, and have this become fields in AutoCAD. AutoCad :: Data Tables Linked To Excel Spreadsheets
Apr 19, 2012I have a new issue that I am unsure what to do about.
This has never occurred with previous version of ACAD and this is the first time I created data links with Autocad 2012, and I am using the same procedure that I have successfully used in the past.
I have data tables linked to excel spreadsheets. I used the 'TABLE' button on the ANNOTATE ribbon to place the table, and the layout of the cells assumes the layout of the excel spreadsheet, which is what I want.
As long as I don't Scale the table, I can Update the data table links just fine.
However when I scale the table and then update table links, the table layout changes drastically, and is undesirable.
I have tried locking the cells' but that will not fix the problem.
I want to keep the layout of the table that is assumed when I place the table originally. Is there any way to lock it as such?

AutoCAD 2013 :: Data Link Excel Sheet
Dec 23, 2013I have made a data link to an excel file. Then I bring it in as a table. I then adjust the text height and remove all formatting from the table. Unfortunately, after closing and re-opening the file, the table changes. I lose formating/cell alignment/text height. It isn't even consistent across the table. The lost formatting is only on the 2nd split of the table, the first side retains the corrected formatting. I have selected the option to not update excel formatting. I don't even get a notification the table is updating. There haven't been any changes to the excel sheet either....

AutoCAD Map 3D :: Import ASCII Point Coordinates (from Comma Delimited File) Into File

Jun 7, 2013I have a .crd file which i need to convert to ASC1II file to then import into civil 3d to build a ground model.
I have used the survey link: [URL] ...
However when i click convert i get an error saying points not found, please see attached.
How i can go about importing the .crd file?

AutoCAD 2010 :: ASCII File With XYZ Coordinate Data
Nov 22, 2011I have a .PTS file (an ASCII file with XYZ coordinate data + two additional sets of info per point). Is there any way to bring this into AutoCAD natively?
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Importing ASCII File Error / Rounds Elevation To Nearest Foot
Aug 12, 2013I am battling is bringing in LiDAR files from ArcGIS. I have tried TXT and ASC, and they both seem to only maintain the elevation to the nearest foot, as you can see in the attached image.
What is strange, is that when the file is brought back into GIS, this issue is a problem. Is there a setting for reducing the amount of units when importing data? The text file as I shared has data to the thousandth.

CorelDRAW X6 :: Export Object Names In ASCII File?
Jun 7, 2013I've exported in all supported vector file formats, and it seem that only SVGsupports object name (and data)... however, I can't use SVG at the moment.
Is there a way to export all objects using a macro?I need in plain ascii: layer and object names, and maybe object data.
I'm looking for a simple format, no transform matrices (as in SVG).
Something like this:
Layername: Layer 1Object type: Rectanglename: rectoutline: 1mmpos: 100.000, 100.000size: 100.000, 100.000rotation: 0.000Object type: Ellipsename: circleoutline: 1mmpos: 100.000, 100.000size: 100.000, 100.000rotation: 0.000Layername: Layer 2Object type: Curvename: Curveoutline: 1mmstart: 100.000, 100.000lineto: 200.000, 200.000bezierto: XY1, XY2, XY3, XY4end

Illustrator :: CS5 - Join Causes Points To Change Position?
Dec 5, 2013What setting have I changed: Just today, when I try to move a point, 'unite' shapes, or join 2 points, the points jump out of position. I've turned off 'snap to grid' and 'align new objects to pixel grid'. I've even copied and pasted the artwork into a new 'default' file. I've also restarted AICS5. I'm sure I'm overlooking something obvious.
Illustrator :: Change Position Of Anchor Points On Line
May 16, 2013How do I change the position of anchor points on my line, at the moment the anchor points are in the middle of my line, I would like the anchor points on the inside edge of my line so I can make my cut cuides more accurate. I am using illustrator CS6 cloud.
3ds Max :: Locking Position Of Import Model?
May 31, 2013I'm trying to move a model that i've imported into a scene that has another model in it. When I select the model and translate it using 'select and move' and then go to save the model, it snaps back to it's original position where it was imported.
AutoCAD 2010 :: C# To Import Points
Nov 12, 2012I am new to programming in general, but really new to C#. A little to discribe what I want to do.
I need to creat a command that once I run it, I get to choose an excel file that will be filled with points in a D,X,Y,Z format. (points range from 1-??) I know there are other ways of doing this (importing text ascii) but I need to cut down on the time and steps. This is something I do on a regular basis for people to convert different coordinate systems.
how to do the basics right now, I am just having trouble getting to the point that it will pull the info out of an excel file. I do not have any code right now to share to show my progress either.

AutoCad :: Import Points With Label?
May 27, 2010i have 2500 points that i want to import, i have them in an excel file in the right way, and i can import them using multiple>point copy/paste. but i alsoo need to label them, up or down the point maybe to put an indicator. the ideea it's to create a grid, then manually using my eye to draw some line between this value, like drawing some same temperature/same pressure lines.
AutoCAD Inventor :: Import Points From Excel
Feb 26, 2012when I use the tool 'import points from excel to inventor' in sketch mode, it looks fine. I pick the option 'create lines'. is there any way to create one line by one line? because inventor will give you 'Z' shape when you create two different line in different 'row'.

AutoCAD Map 3D :: How To Import Geotiffs And Series Of Points
Sep 26, 2011New user of autocad map 3d. My company has tasked me with figuring out how to plot updates (new and modified cell towers) that come to us as lat/long coordinates on a aeronautical sectional map from the FAA's website.
The sectional maps come to us as GeoTiffs at 1:500,000 scale. We could plot these out by hand but I am trying to make the process a lot faster by using Map3d. My questions are:
1- How do i import the geotiffs keeping the right scale, projection, etc.
2-How do i insert a series of points at the same time
3- Can i output the file as a tiff when im done?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Import List Of Points In X / Y And Z?
Feb 1, 2013What are some techniques to import a list of points in x, y, and z? Many they be separate features or a grouped? (Manual Entry Vs. Batch Entry) (Single Entry Vs. Multple Entry)
AutoCad :: Import Survey Points To Attributes?
Mar 13, 2009Using AutoCAD 2004 full version.
I am trying to import a survey into AutoCAD, and my client requires Attribute points. Normally we do not use attribute points, and I'm not having any luck importing the txt file that I created.
Assuming that I don't know the first thing about attributes (I now know a little, but I'm afraid that it might be wrong), but I know AutoCAD well (for what I do as a surveyor) what is the process of creating an attribute, and importing bulk amounts of data into it. The data would include:
(x) coord, (y) coord, z(coord) for the insertion point of the block Name, Feature_Code, Elev for the Tagged data needing to appear beside a 3d-point representing the x,y,z coords.
Using Land Desktop 3 I am able to create AECC points, but I do not have any Land Desktop experience at all, so I would rather stay away (I have no real need for it).
I do not have any 3rd party software that I know of that creates attribute points from a survey file, except for Trimble Geomatics Office, but it does not give me the format or all the data that I require.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Import Points With Scale Factor?
Nov 20, 2012To import the point along an alignment into Civil 3D, I need to introduce a scale factor. But by adding the Scale Factor column to the points and modify one of the formats in the Civil 3D to accept the scale factor, change was not affected to the initial state (without adding a column to a scale factor). I got the points, regardless of the scale factor and now, I want to add a scaling factor for the points.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Re-import Points And Line Work
Nov 13, 20121. When I do a re-import of my points my linework appears to double up (linework over linework).
2. In my description keys I use 'rr' for rail road and 'rrisg' for railroad signal (no * in code), linework comes in for both even though I only have it set up for 'rr'. I thought without the * in code this would not happen, but still does.
3. Finally, I use the 'Survey Point Properties' window to make edits to points. All seems great, but when I got back into my drawing all my work was gone? Do I need to update the database some how with the changes? I was under the assumption that by doing it the way I do the changes are saved to the database. Is it better to do the edit on the Survey Tab by right clicking on the import event and selecting 'Edit Points'?

AutoCAD 2010 :: Force Attribute Position To Remain Fixed In Drawing When Moving Block Position
Jul 12, 2013Is it possible to setup a block so that an attribute position remaines fixed (absolute to drawing) when moving the block?
I've been playing around with creating a Coordinate Block by following these instructions: [URL] ........
What I would like is to be able to set the position of the Coordinate Label and Coordinate Object independently, so that if I move one in the drawing, it doesn't move the other. I've looked into Dynamic Blocks, and the 'Lock Position' parameter. I can move the attribute independently, but still everytime I move the block, the attribute moves too.
Our company uses a custom Sheet/Coordinate system to follow flyoffs across a drawing, and I'm trying to learn how to automate the process. It's completely manually right now, so any changes to a drawing creates a lot of work renumbering these flyoffs.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Total Station Import Points Without A Data Collector?
Jun 30, 2012I use a Sokkia total station along with a data collector. I use this to bring measurement points in to another program that will draw a scaled map. I'm forced to use this other program and its supposed to be able to export the drawing into DXF format. It wont bring in the z coordinates. Is there a way I can use the total station to collect the points and then get them into AutoCAD 2013 so i can work my magic. Basically I draw crash scenes for a police department.
